A young boy in the American town of Lawtonville expresses grief over his dog's loss. He has to struggles to adjust with new stepmother, Ann, and he shares a complicated yet different relation with his father. This makes him call a psychiatrist, Dr. Banning, for requesting some assistance. Danny befriends Rusty, who's a ferocious German shepherd who was brought from Germany to the US during World War 2.

Rusty is ill-temperament and Danny faces many struggles to train him.

Two Nazis arrive in Lawtonville, to evading Coast Guard and blow an nstallation. They try to take Rusty by making a conversation with him in German, his former native language.
