Organizational conflict or workplace conflict is a state discord caused by the actual or perceived opposition of needs, values, and interests between people working together. There is also conflict within individuals between competing needs of demands to which individuals respond in different ways.

Another type of interpersonal conflict can relate to disagreements over the goals and objectives of the organization. It is disagreement by individuals or groups which can center on factors ranging from resource allocation and division of responsibility to the overall direction of the organization.
