Answer-
According to citizenship act 1955 ,citizenship could be acquired through any of the 5 ways-
1.BY BIRTH -
BORN IN INDIA ON OR AFTER JANUARY 1950,however children born to foreign diplomats posted in India are not entitled to Indian citizenship.
2. BY DESCENT -
if at the time of birth ,his father is a citizen of India.
3.REGISTRATION-
A.persons of Indian origin who have ordinarily been redisent in India for 6 months ,immediately before making
an apllication for registration,or if his grandparents any of them was born in Undivided India.
B.persons of Indian origin ordinarily resident outside India.
C.women married to Indian citizens.
D.person of adult age who are citizens of India.
E.persons of adult age and capacity who are citizens of commonwealth countries of Republic of Ireland.
4 By NAURALISATION- IF HE QUALIFIES
A.belongs to a country where the citizens of India are allowed to become subjects or citizens of that country by naturalization.
B.he renounces the citizenship of his country in accordance with the law of that country and intimates the renunciation to the Govt of India.
C.he has been residing in India or serving the Govt of India for at least 12 months immediately preceding the date of application
And he possesses workable knowledge of an Indian language.
5.BY INCORPORATION OF TERRITORY -
In the event of certain territory being added to the territory of India ,Government can specify the persons or categories of persons who shall be entitled to Indian citzenship ,by reasons of their connection with the territory .
