Surbhi was born on 11th September, 1988. While most of her relatives and cousins live in Delhi, Surbhi was born and brought up in Mumbai. She belongs to a Punjabi family wherein she lives with her mom and dad in Powai, Mumbai. She has an elder sister as well. Surbhi has done her MBA in Marketing from Atharva Institute of Management Studies and later worked in the Atharva Group of Institutes where she managed the international relations and has hence, travelled to different places. She has also handled a beauty pageant named Indian Princess, organized several events and worked behind the camera while working in the Atharva Group of Institutes before starting her acting career.

Although Surbhi doesn't have a background in acting, she was always inclined towards theatre. When she was younger, she attended workshops conducted by prominent theatre personalities such as Neeraj Kavi and Atul Mongia. Upon insistence of one of her mother's friends who happened to be a television actress, Surbhi decided to give acting a shot.

2009-2013: Beginnings

At the initial phase of her career, Surbhi did several ad-shoots and TV commercials. One of her earliest appearances on television dates back to 2009, when she was seen as a cameo in SAB TV's popular show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Similarly in 2013, she appeared in Star Plus's show Ek Nanad Ki Khushiyon Ki Chaabi… Meri Bhabhi as Suzanne.

2014-2015: Qubool Hai & television breakthrough

Surbhi shot to fame through her portrayal of Haya, a deaf and mute girl in Zee TV's popular daily soap Qubool Hai. Although short, her stint in the show was appreciated by the viewers and moreover, the popularity of the daily soap raised Surbhi's profile.

Surbhi also played the role of Aamna Khan/Aditi in the 2014 Vidya Balan starrer Bobby Jasoos and appeared in an episodic role in Sony Entertainment Television (India)'s Aahat.

2016-present: Leading roles

Currently, Surbhi is playing the character of Annika (Female Lead) in the popular Star Plus show Ishqbaaaz and as Annika (supporting artist) itself in the spin-off show of Ishqbaaaz, i.e. Dil Boley Oberoi.

Following the success of Ishqbaaaz Surbhi made an appearance in episode 6 of Farah Khan's "Lip Sing Battle" on Star Plus, where she battled it out with her Ishqbaaaz co-star Nakuul Mehta. While the latter emerged as the winner, Surbhi was praised for her performance in the show. Bollywood Life praised the duo's performance on the show further claiming that "Nakuul and Surbhi's crazy antics made it the most enjoyable episode of the show so far." The show is an Indian version of 'Lip Sync Battle'.
