Shah belongs to Gujarati family but was born in Maharashtra. She worked as an assistant to choreographer Ganesh Acharya in films like Zameen and Khakee and later started modelling, doing photo shoots and print ads.^[9] Kannada director Harsha approached her for the film Chingari.^[9] She played Ammu in the Kannada version of Bodyguard. She then shot for two item songs in Kannada film Bachchan and Hindi film Bloody Isshq.^[10] She also did an item song ("Neeli Lomdi") in the Hindi film Khuda Kasam starring Sunny Deol, Tabbu.

Shah won the Miss Photogenic award in the MS Dombivli contest at a local mall when she was in 10th class.^[7] She studied arts from Mumbai’s Khalsa College.^[11] She later went on to become a model and worked under Ganesh Acharya for three years before getting roles in Kannada films.^[5]
