Angira Dhar is an Indian model and film actress who appears in Hindi films. Her most notable work includes her role in web series "Bang Baaja Baaraat". Born and brought up in Mumbai with a degree from the prestigious Xavier’s Institute of Communication, Dhar began a career in TV production with Channel V. During this stint, she learnt key technical skills like writing scripts, editing and shooting, making her an all-round TV professional. While at Channel V, she was offered chances to appear on camera for promos and shows, but Dhar focused on learning production for she hadn’t chosen acting as a career yet. She gained visibility as host of a popular TV show on UTV Bindass titled ‘Beg Borrow Steal’. Soon after this, Dhar began working on "Bang Baaja Baaraat", in which she essayed the role of a spunky, feisty, young independent girl. Gaining a lot of popularity over time, she was noticed for a role in this web series. She will be next seen on screen as a lead actor of the first film to be directed by Anand Tiwari under RSVP (Ronnie Screwvala Production).^[9]^[10]

Early Life and Education

Dhar was born on 25 May 1991 in Mumbai, India.^{[citation needed]} She was brought up in Mumbai itself and got her degree from Xavier's Institute of Communication.

Career

Dhar began her career with Channel V, in the field of TV production as an associate producer. She also worked behind the camera as an assistant movie director. During her time at Channel V she was offered the anchor position on the show 'Beg Borrow Steal' by UTV Bindass.^[11] In 2015 she was offered the female lead in a web series by Y-films, titled Bang Baaja Baarat which garnered a lot of positive attention for her. The show revolves around a much-in-love couple, Shahana (Dhar) and Pawan (Ali Fazal) who decide to get married with an elaborate wedding. However, since Pawan is Brahmin and Shahana is Punjabi , chaos unfolds when both the families meet.^[12] The show became so popular that it was got back on for a second season.

Dhar has also been a part of several advertisements, such as Cadbury Silk, Dominoes India, Everyuth and a few more. She's all set to make her debut in Bollywood with Ronnie Screwvala's "Love Per Square Foot" opposite Vicky Kaushal.^[13]
