William Butler Yeats popularly known as WB Yeats was an Irish poet and poet. Some of his most famous poems are: He wishes for the Cloths of Heaven, At Galway Races, The Blessed, The Cap and Bells, The Cat and the Moon, Down by the Salley Gardens, Dream of a Blessed Spirit, The Falling of the Leaves, He Bids His Beloved Be at Peace, He Mourns for the Change that has Come Upon Him and His Beloved, and Longs for the End of the World, He Remembers Forgotten Beauty, He Wishes His Beloved Were Dead, His Dream, The Hosting of the Sidhe, The Host of the Air, In the Seven Woods, The Lamentation of the Old Pensioner, Lines Written in Dejection, The White Birds, When You Are Old, Red Hanrahan\'s Song about Ireland, The Rose of the World, The Second Coming, The Song of the Happy Shepherd, The Song of the Wandering Aengus, The Sorrow of Love, These Are the Clouds, To a Child Dancing in the Wind, The Isle of Statues, The Wanderings of Oisin, and To an Isle in the Water among many other poems.
Yeats was born in 1865 in Sandymount, County Dublin, Ireland. He was born into the Anglo-Irish gentry. However it was the time of political change and he experienced the shift of economic privileges from the Anglo-Irish. Yeats and his siblings were initially educated at home. He grew up listening to folklores from his mother. His siblings were equally gifted as he was; his brother Jack became a famous painter while his sisters Elizabeth and Susan Mary were part of the Arts and Crafts Movement. The family moved to London and Yeats was enrolled in the Godolphin school. He excelled at Latin. He attended the Metropolitan School of Art which is now called the National College of Art and Design. He began to write poetry and he was heavily influenced by Irish mythology, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Edmund Spenser, and William Blake. He co-founded the Rhymers\' Club with Ernest Rhys. He met Maud Gonne and fell in love with her. Although it remained mostly unrequited, she inspired him.
Yeats has been known for his symbolist style in poetry. He was a close friend of Rabindranath Tagore. He died on January 28, 1939.
