Ram Vilas Sharma (1912–2000) was a progressive poet, literary critic, and thinker. He was born in Uttar Pradesh.
He came into limelight as a critic in 1939 with his research on Suryakant Tripathi.
He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1970 for his Nirala ki Sahitya Sadhana. He analysed his personality and spoke about his contribution to Hindi Literature. According to him Bhartendu Harishchandra, Munshi Premchand and Nirala are not only outstanding litterateurs but also people with magnanimous of soul.
