Jonathan Engel is an American writer, a historian of medicine and American healthcare policy, and a professor of healthcare policy and management at the School of Public Affairs, Baruch College. His books are Doctors and Reformers: Discussion and Debate on Health Policy, Poor People’s Medicine: Medicaid and U.S. Charity Care since 1965, The Epidemic: A History of AIDS, and American Therapy: The Rise of Psychotherapy in the United States. He received a BA degree in History of Science from Harvard University. He attended Yale School of Management at Yale University and completed an MBA with a specialization in Accounting and Finance. He received a PhD in History with a specialization in the history of American medicine, public health, and health policy from Yale University. He currently lives in New Jersey with his family.
