Jack London Biography of Jack London :

Jack London was an American writer, journalist, and social activist. Some of his most-famous writings include The Call of the Wild, White Fang, A Daughter of the Snows, The Kempton-Wace Letters, The Sea-Wolf, The Game, Before Adam, The Iron Heel, Martin Eden, Burning Daylight, The Scarlet Plague, A Son of the Sun, The Abysmal Brute, The Valley of the Moon, The Mutiny of the Elsinore, The Little Lady of the Big House, Michael, Brother of Jerry, Hearts of Three, Son of the Wolf, Chris Farrington, Able Seaman, and Children of the Frost among others. He wrote two memoirs: The Road and John Barleycorn. He was born as John Griffith Chaney to Flora Wellman in San Francisco. He attended the University of California, Berkeley although he never graduated.

 

London went with his brother-in-law to the Klondike region during the gold rush. He suffered from scurvy and realized that he had to educate himself to escape poverty and the hobo-way of life. He began to write and submit his stories. He was also a member of the Socialist Labor Party. His book titled The Iron Heel reveals his views on socialism.

 

Jack London died in 1916 at Glen Ellen, California.
