Intizar Hussain was born on December 7, 1923 in Dibai, Bulandshahr in India. He did his masters (M.A.) in Urdu and English literature. He migrated to Pakistan in 1947. He started his career with newspaper Mashriqe and later became a part of the newspaper. He writes short stories and novels in Urdu and newspaper columns in English. Intizar Hussain has mastered a unique prose style known to stir nostalgia in readers for older places and phenomena. A receiver of many awards from Pakistan, India and the Middle East some his prominent writings include "Basti","Hindustan Se Aakhri Khat", "Agay Samander hai", "Shehr-e-Afsos"jataka tales"& "Wo Jo Kho Gaye".
