Barry Hannah was an American writer and professor. Some of his works include Geronimo Rex, Nightwatchmen, Ray, The Tennis Handsome, Hey Jack!, Boomerang, Never Die, Yonder Stands Your Orphan, Airships, Captain Maximus, Bats out of Hell, High Lonesome, Long, Last, Happy: New and Selected Stories, and Memories of Tennessee Williams. He was born in Meridian in Mississippi and was raised in Clinton in Mississippi. He attended Mississippi College where he completed a B.A. He earned an M.A and an M.F.A from the University of Arkansas.

Barry Hannah taught at several universities and institutes across the U.S. such as Iowa Writers\' Workshop, Clemson University, Middlebury College, the University of Alabama, Texas State University, the University of Memphis, University of Mississippi, and the University of Montana - Missoula. His writings were published in Esquire, The New Yorker, The Oxford American, and Southern Review among others.
