Ann Beattie is an American writer and professor. Her writings include Distortions, Secrets and Surprises, The Burning House, What Was Mine, Where You’ll Find Me and Other Stories, Park City, Perfect Recall, Follies: New Stories, The New Yorker Stories, Walks with Men, Chilly Scenes of Winter, Falling in Place, Love Always, Picturing Will, Another You, My Life, Starring Dara Falcon, and The Doctor\'s House.

Ann Beattie was born in Washington D.C. and was raised in Chevy Chase, Washington, D.C. She completed an undergraduate degree from American University and a Masters from the University of Connecticut. She previously taught at Harvard College and the University of Connecticut. She currently teaches at the University of Virginia where she is the Edgar Allan Poe Chair of the Department of English and Creative Writing.
