Alexander Pushkin was born on June 6, 1799. His parents belonged to the Russian nobility and he is credited to be the founder of modern Russian literature. He attended the Imperial Lyceum in Tsarskoye Selo and graduated from there. He stayed in Saint Petersburg immersing himself in the intellectual circles of his time there. His poems include Ruslan and Ludmila, The Prisoner of the Caucasus, The Gabrieliad, The Robber Brothers, The Fountain of Bakhchisaray, The Gypsies, Count Nulin, The Little House in Kolomna, Angelo, and The Bronze Horseman. Some of his other writings include Eugene Onegin, Boris Godunov, The Little Tragedies, The Stone Guest, Mozart and Salieri, The Miserly Knight, A Feast in Time of Plague, The Tales of the Late Ivan Petrovich Belkin, The Queen of Spades, A History of Pugachev, The Captain\'s Daughter, A Journey to Arzrum, The Tale of the Priest and of His Workman Balda, The Tale of Tsar Saltan, The Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish, The Tale of the Dead Princess, and The Tale of the Golden Cockerel.
